It has been all change at Symondsbury as we see Class 4 having a new teaching team in Miss Jenkin, Miss Prentice, Mrs Parry and Mrs Swift. We have a lot of fun and exciting learning events happening over the course of the year and it’s all starting this term with our topic, ‘A Spooky going on’!

Class 4's Homework Schedule - practice makes perfect
Read & complete reading log – 10 minutes per day. Write in reading log about what you have read.
Christmas Cakes
For this years Christmas Fair, Class 4 have made Christmas cakes to sell. We used Miss J’s Grandma’s Christmas cake recipe. They were left to mature for a few weeks before marzipaning and finally icing and decoration. We are very impressed with the results.
Class 4 Book Club
In the second half of the term, Class 4 took part in the first Book Club. The children selected a book to read over half term and wrote notes about it. They then spent an afternoon with one of our amazing governors (Cat, Becky, Ines & Val) putting together a book review. They came up with some very creative ways to show their review.
Maths - Year 6 & a very practical session
Today Year 6 had a chance to put their shape knowledge to the test building and naming 3D shapes.
NSPCC talk
This week the NSPCC came to school to talk about keeping ourselves safe. Class 4 had an assembly with Class 3 and then a 45 minute workshop. They learnt about the role that the NSPCC has and the importance of speaking to a trusted adult if you have any worries.
‘I learnt that it is importance that I tell an adult if I’m worried.’
‘It made me think about how I behave.’
A though provoking afternoon for us all.
Colmers Hill - River of Poppies
After the Remembrance Service on Friday 9th November Class 4 took a windy walk up to look at the river of poppies that we had helped create. We then went back to school to paint the image that we saw.
Shadow Puppets
As part of the harvest festival, we were focusing on the element of fire. We wrote poems about how fire effects our environment and then made a shadow puppet production to go alongside four poems we had selected to share.

Our first class trip
Today we ventured out the classroom for a vocabulary grab in Hell’s Lane. We are finding great words for our spooky stories……
Roald Dhal Day
On Friday 14th September, the school celebrated Roald Dhal Day by dressing up as our favourite characters from one of the great man’s books. Here is what Class 4 looked like.
