Home Learning

Just to keep you all active and smiling - can you remember our daily dance?! Why don't you join in!

There are lots of ways of supporting your child with their learning at home and to support our parents we have included some examples of websites with free resources that can support the children's learning.

Remember though - learning should be fun!

 Phonics

The following websites have some great games to support the phonics we have been learning in class.  As a general guide, Reception have covered Phase 2, 3 and are just beginning Phase 4. Year 1 have covered Phase 5 and Year 2 are working on Phase 6.

www.phonicsplay.co.uk   -  currently offering free access with: Username: march20 Password: home

https://www.teachyourmonstertoread.com   -  free to play on the website, cost for app, although it may have been waived temporarily due to the situation

http://www.letters-and-sounds.com

https://www.phonicsbloom.com

https://www.twinkl.co.uk    -   lots of resources on here that have been made free

Have fun!

 PE and Physical Development

It will be really important to keep active and burn off some energy if confined to houses etc.  Hopefully these are fun and children will enjoy doing them.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAf9VzVG-OM      -  PE with Mr C on Youtube

https://www.youtube.com/thebodycoachtv     -   PE with Joe Wickes - The Body Coach - 9am Monday-Friday, a 30 minute session suitable for all ages

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p06tmmvz/episodes/player - Andy's Wild Workouts - Andy from CBeebies is doing an animal themed active session, for the younger children, they might prefer it to Joe.

https://family.gonoodle.com/  -  if you need a quick active break, the children have done these in school so will know what to do

https://www.youtube.com/user/CosmicKidsYoga - if you need a calming 10 minutes, great for strength, balance and a bit of mindfulness, suitable for everyone!

https://www.youtube.com/user/mosetsanagape  -  Dance With Oti Mabuse - at 11am each day Oti is doing a live kids dance session on Facebook and YouTube. You can also watch them again on the YouTube channel.  Oti has different themes such as Shrek!  Lots of fun and a great way to be active!

Playdough is excellent for developing children's fine motor skills but is also so much fun and an opportunity to be creative and talk.  Try FaceTiming a friend who is doing playdough at the same time so you can chat and see what each other are making.

There are lots of recipes on-line but this is the one I use and have found to work best.  Nobody knows what Cream of Tartar does but it is essential, without it, it will be a sticky mess!  You can buy it in Waitrose for 99p a tub.

  Have fun!  Mrs Wills x

 Reading and Stories

www.worldofdavidwalliams.com   -  click on 'Elevenses The World of David Walliams'

David Walliams is reading a story at 11am everyday!  It is really beneficial for children to listen to stories as well as read them.  It gives them the chance to imagine their own 'pictures' and have a calm quiet time.  Could they then draw what they imagined the character/setting to be like?

Science

https://www.youtube.com/user/maddiemoate   -  science experiments with Maddie and Greg. These are live weekdays at 11am but can be watched again as stored on YouTube.  Recommend these, they are great!!

 Music

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQh2wgJ5tOrixYBn6jFXsXQ  - Myleene's Music Klass - twice a week live on YouTube, but can be watched again.

Challenges

https://www.bellalearning.co.uk -  easy to do daily challenges that offer ideas to be adapted for each age group.  They are meant to be open-ended, purposeful tasks that the children will enjoy doing.   Different challenges link to different areas eg maths/literacy/science.
