Sports Action in 2021-2022

Over the past two years, sport has been an important part of our lives in supporting both mental and physical health during the COVID Pandemic.  While we have not been able to participate in all the events and tournaments that we would have liked to, we continue to ensure that the children foster an enjoyment in sport and physical activity.

Sports Day 2022

We had our annual sports day on Friday 24th June, and what a day.  It started with a very wet marathon run around Colmers Hill for some of the KS2 children.  Once the rain had subsided, the whole school got out onto the field for the house team activity, Water Carry obstacle course!  What a great event and a show of team skills.  In the afternoon, parents were invited to meet us at Simene Field for an afternoon of events, sprint and novelty races.  There were lots of results to add up after school.  The results were announced on Monday and it was very close.  However, the winners were – Allington.  Well done everyone, a great day.

 Comers Run April 2022

On a bright Saturday morning (2nd April), after a two-year break due to the COVID pandemic the primary schools of Bridport have once again been able to come together for the annual Colmers Hill run.  This traditional run was started nearly 20 years ago with the help of Richard Tuck and his family when their children attended Symondsbury Primary School.  Now, 20 years on, Richard and Kay Tucks’s children are all grown up but they still support our local primary schools with this event every year.

We could not be prouder of the Symondsbury Running Term (Tilly, Eliza, Daisy, Freya, Poppy W, Evelyn, Sara, Amaya, Charlie, Felix, James, Luke, Izak, Harry and Fin) for the effort and speed that they put in at this event today.

Massive congratulations to Tilly who was the first girl across the line in 7 minutes 16 seconds.  You definitely deserve a little rest this afternoon Tills.

The Girls A Team of Tilly, Freya, Eliza and Daisy came first in the girl’s event and the Boys A Team, Felix, James, Luke and Charlie, came second overall.

Class 4 Tag Rugby Tournament

We weren’t able to get to this year’s Bridport Tag Rugby Festival due to COVID, but we did have our own.  A great afternoon of Tag Rugby.  Well done team!

Wednesday 29th September 2021

A massive “Well Done’ to Eliza, Tilly, Poppy S, Saul, Charlie, Harry, Preston, Daisy, Luke and Poppy W who competed in the Quicksticks hockey tournament this week at Colfox and did Symondbsury proud by coming joint second alongside Sticklands Primary school. There were some great tactics, team work and above all support for each observed both on and off the pitch. Wear your medals with pride. You should be very proud of yourselves as I and your Symondsbury family are.
